While I laid face down on her bed...

Like I do most afternoons when I want to be able to breathe,

I said, "I need a reason to wake up in the morning."

She laughed, like I was joking...which...partly I was of course. But there was truth in it. I then began to realize that there's probably something missing. Well, actually, in response to her laughter, I said, "WHY IS THAT FUNNY!"

But then I followed with, "I think something's missing."

"What was your reason before?" She asked, recovering from the chuckles.

I had the answer. But then my brain decided to fry itself at that very moment and I didn't say anything. Instead I said, "I don't know."

And once I said that, I was startled by its innocent honesty.
